the number of boys failed.​

Given - 62.5% of girls passed ⇒ 37.5% failed.

Let x be the total number of girls, then, 37.5/100 of x = 342

⇒ x = 34200/37.5 = 912 girls in total.

Let the Total number of students be t, then if 37.5% were girls, then 62.5% were boys.

∴ 37.5/100 of t = 912. ⇒ t = 91200/37.5 = 2432 students in total.

∴ Number of boys = 62.5/100 of t (or) 2432 - 912 = 1520 boys.

∴ Number of boys that failed = 100%-75% = 25% * 1520 = 1520*25/100 = 380 buys failed in the examination.
