Q3. Answer the following questions.
i) State laws of reflection.
ii) Explain different parts of the eye with the help of a diagram.
iii) What is coal? Explain its different types and uses.
iv) What is coke? How is it obtained?
v) How was the petroleum formed?
Answers
1:- The laws of reflection States that the angle of the incident light raysbis equal to the angle of the reflected light ray.. The angle of incidence is the angle that the incident ray makes with the normal and the angle of reflection, or reflected angle, is the angle that the reflected ray makes with the normal..
2:- The eye has many parts that must work together to produce clear vision: The sclera, or white part of the eye, protect the eyeball.. It controls how much light enters the eye by changing the size of the pupil. The cornea, a clear window at the front of the eye, covers the iris and the pupil.
3:- Coal is a combustible black or brownish-black sedimentary rock, formed as rock strata called coal seams.
Coal types: Hard coal. Bituminous coal is harder and blacker than lignite and sub bituminous coal, and can be divided into two types: Thermal and metallurgical.
The most significant uses of coal are in electricity generation, steel production, cement manufacturing and as a liquid fuel. steam coal also known as a thermal coal is mainly used in power generation. coking coal also known as metallurgical coal is mainly used in steel production.
4:- Coke is obtained by destructive distillation of charcoal or coal in the furnace destructive distillation is the chemical process involving the decomposition of coal or charcoal by heating to a high temperature in the absence of air or in the presence of limited amounts of oxygen.
5:- Petroleum is formed when large quantities of dead organisms, mostly zooplankton and algea, are buried underneath sedimentary rock and subjected to both intense heat and pressure. Petroleum has mostly been recovered by oil drilling.
