Appreciation of Poem (Paragraph Format)
The poem ‘The Road not Taken’ is written by Robert Frost. The main theme of this poem is about the
journey of life in which we are faced with two roads and how we make our choices, is what affects our
lives. The rhyme scheme of this poem is abaab. An example of figure of speech used is Alliteration. In the
line ‘Though as for that the passing there’ there is Repetition of the sound of the letter ‘t’. The poem is
an extended metaphor. The two roads diverging stand for the choices we have in our lives. It makes us
think about how we make our choices and the way it affect our lives. My favourite lines are ‘I took the
one less travelled by, And that has made all the difference’. I like the poem because it is thought
provoking and makes me think of all the choices I made in life.
