Q3. Calculate the kinetic energy, If a body of mass 3m is placed over the body of mass m and the velocity of the combination reduces to v/2.​

Answer:

The velocity of m kg=16 ms−1

and let the velocity of 2 m kg mass=v2ms−1

By the law of conservation of momentum

m×16=2m×v2

v2=8 ms−1

∴ Kinetic energy of the system

=21m(16)2+21(2m)(8)2=192 mJ.
