animation can be 2d or 3d but in vr u can experience it and it is most commonly referred as 4d

computer based animation can be created from still images by moving the still images or frames at a rate of 24 frames per second so that our brain interprets as moving

eg.in a cartoon like 'mickey mouse' the images are painted and then moved at 24 fps so that it appears to be moving
