Sometimes a certain common name is not enough to indicate the particular species. In science, people from different languages have to read about each other's research work. So, it was found necessary to eliminate any possible confusion in using local names by substituting them with names specially given in scientific language. This method of naming the organisms is called the binomial nomenclature and was first introduced by Carl Linnaeus (1707-1778).

LOCAL NAMES VARY FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER .SO IT CREATES CONFUSION DUE TO MULTI NAMING . THIS WAS RESOLVED BY INTRODUCING INTERNATIONAL ACCEPTED NAMES OF DIFFERENT ORGANISMS , THESE NAMES WERE KNOWN AS SCIENTIFIC NAMES.THE SCIENTIST WHO INTRODUCED THIS SYSTEM WAS CAROLUS LINNAEUS.
