Ans:- The Captain of th Ship was worried and sad because things were not turning right for him.As he thought

that he and his family would not be able to survive long.

b) When he thought he missed the island, why was the narrator not ready to turn back?

Ans: The narrator was motivated by the children.Whenever he was sad or demotivated,the children motivated him to move ahead and not stop.The narrator was very heartbroken as his efforts were not being recognised.

c) What does 'A tousled head in the above passage mean?​

Ans: The Tousled head was that of the Captain's son.Whenever we are sad our children believe in us.This is a big motivation for a human being.

Similarly in the story here,the depressed and heartbroken Captain gets motivated by the positivity and energy of the childre.
