Q3.The boys and the girls in a school are in the ratio 7:4. If the total strength of the school is

550, find the number of boys and girls.​

Ratio of boys and girls = 7 : 4

Total no. of students = 550

Which means;

550 = 7x + 4x

550 = 11x

50 = x

No. of boys = 7 × 50

= 350

_______________________________

No. of Girls = 4 × 50

= 200

7x + 4x = 550 \\  \\ 11x = 550 \\  \\ x =  \frac{550}{11}  \\  \\ x = 50

 \cal{Number \:  of \:  boys = 50×7 = 350}

 \cal{Number \:  of \:  girls = 50×4 = 200}

Total number of students = Number of girls + Number of boys

550 = 350+200

550 = 550
