as we know that hydrogen divides the reactivity series in two parts less reactive and more reactive the elements above hydrogen are termed as more reactive and the element below hydrogen are less reactive and since copper is below hydrogen so it is less reactive and zinc is above hydrogen so it is more reactive and so it reacts and give hydrogen gas.
