Q3. You have been given the task to design a car park on the top of a building that can
ally have very wide rear
accommodate 10 cars. Each car has a maximum mass of 2000 kg. The material you are using
can withstand a pressure of 500 Nm 2. Calculate how large your car park must be.

Given:

Number of cars = 10

maximum mass of each car = 2000 kg

Pressure that the material can withstand = 500 N/m²

To find:

The area of the car park.

Solution:

We know that Pressure = Force / Area

Here force= weight of the cars = 10 * m * g = 10* 2000 * 9.8 = 196000 N

Pressure = 500 N/m²

Putting the values we get:

500 = 196000 / Area

Area = 196000 / 500 = 392 m²

Therefore the area of the car park must be 392 m².
