Given

The sides of a rectangle are 19 units , 10 units  , 2x - y and - x + 2y units.

To find :

The values of x, y and x + y.

Solution:

Step 1 of 1:

In a rectangle opposite sides are always equal.

Therefore ,

19 = 2x - y

10 = - x + 2y

Here, x = 2y - 10

Step 2 of 3:

Substitute value of x in 2x - y =19

2 (2y - 10 ) - y = 19

4y - 20 - y =19

3y = 19 + 20

3y = 39

y = \frac{39}{3}

y = 13

Substitute y value in x = 2y - 10

x = 2(13) - 10

x = 26 - 10

x = 16

Step 3 of 3:

To find x + y, substitute x and y values

x + y = 16 + 13

x + y = 29

Final answer:

The value of,

x = 16

y = 13

x+ y = 29.
