Answer:

15cm

Step-by-step explanation:

IN a right angledΔ,

Hypotenuse^{2} = Base^{2} + Altitude^{2}

Let the length of the other side = x

17^{2} = 8^{2} + x^{2}

x = \sqrt{17^{2} - 8^{2}

  =  \sqrt{ 289 - 64}

  =  \sqrt{ 225}

  = \sqrt{15 X 15}

  = 15cm

⇒ The length of the other side= 15cm

Given :

  • Hypotenuse of a right triangle is 17cm.
  • One of its side is 8cm.

To Find :

  • Length of the other side .

Solution :

Using Pythagoras Theoram :

\longmapsto\tt{{(AC)}^{2}={(AB)}^{2}+{(BC)}^{2}}

\longmapsto\tt{{(17)}^{2}={(8)}^{2}+{(BC)}^{2}}

\longmapsto\tt{289=64+{(BC)}^{2}}

\longmapsto\tt{289-64={(BC)}^{2}}

\longmapsto\tt{\sqrt{225}=BC}

\longmapsto\tt\bf{15=BC}

So , The Length of other Side is 15cm ..
