Given:

  • The sum of three consecutive integers is 5 more than the smallest of the integers.

To find:

  • The integers

Solution:

❐ Let the three consecutive integers be a, (a + 1) & (a + 2).

ATQ,

➯ a + a + 1 + a + 2 = a + 5

➯ 3a + 3 = a + 5

➯ 3a - a = 5 - 3

➯ 2a = 2

➯ a = 2/2

a = 1

Hence,

  • First Consecutive integer = a = 1
  • Second Consecutive integer = (a + 1) = 2
  • Third Consecutive integer = (a + 2) = 3
