Q4. A pendulum starts from mean position- goes to an extreme position on the right side- again comes back to mean position- then goes to an extreme position on the left side- again comes to mean position- again goes to an extreme position on right side. How much time does the pendulum take to complete the above steps if the time period of the given pendulum is 4 seconds?(Figure on your right.)

Answer:

Time period for pendulum is the period in which pendulum complete one oscillation, from one extreme position to another extreme position and again back to first extreme.

Let take that distance as X , here the pendulum X + X/4 (From mean to right extreme, then again to mean, then to left extreme, then to mean + to right extreme)

Pendulum moves X in 4 sec

So, X + X/4 in = 4 × 5X/4 ÷ X = 5sec

hope this will help you
