Given info : A proton is confined to a cubic box, whose sideshave length 10¯¹² m. The mass of proton is 1.67 × 10^-27 kg and Plank's constant is 6.63 × 10¯³⁴ Js.

To find : the minimum kinetic energy of proton is ..

solution : Minimum kinetic energy of proton is given by, K = 3h²/8ma²

here, h = 6.63 × 10¯³⁴ Js , m = 1.67 × 10^-27 kg , a = 10¯¹² m

so, K = {3 × (6.63 × 10¯³⁴)²}/{8 × 1.67 × 10^-27 × (10¯¹²)²}

= (3 × 43.9569 × 10^-68)/(8 × 1.67 × 10¯⁵¹)

= 9.9 × 10^-17 J

Therefore the minimum kinetic energy of proton is 9.9 × 10^-17 J.
