the Indian constitution divides the power into three subject , they are :- 1 Union list, 2 state list,3 concurrent list.
Explanation:
1. Union list - All the 97 subject of the union list are of of national importance. only only the parliament has the exclusive power to legislate on them. somesome of the subjects in the union list and difference foreign affairs ,war ,and peace, railway, post office ,currency, exchange etc.
2. State list- The state list contains 62 subjects like police ,local government ,public health and sanitization ,agriculture ,forest etc. The state legislature has exclusive power to make law on the subjects. but in certain circumstances, the parliament can also make law on subject mentioned in the state list.
3. Concurrent list - the third list is the concurrent list which has 52 subjects and include subjects as such as marriage and divorce transfer of property other then agricultural land, adultration adulteration of foodstuff , drugs and medicines, labour welfare etc . The parliament as well as the state legislature both may make law on the subject enlisted the concurrent list. But in case of conflict the central law prevails over the state law.
