Given : Q₃ +  Q₁ = 2M

To Find :  skewness of the distribution

a)positive

b) negative

c) zero

d) moderate

Solution:

Coefficient of skewness =  ((Q₃  - Q₂ ) - (Q₂ - Q₁) )/(Q₃ - Q₁)

= ( Q₁ + Q₃ - 2Q₂)/(Q₃ - Q₁)

Q₃ +  Q₁ = 2M

M = Q₂ = median

=> Q₃ +  Q₁ = 2Q₂

=>  Q₁ + Q₃ - 2Q₂ = 0

=> Coefficient of skewness =  0 / (Q₃ - Q₁)

=> Coefficient of skewness =  0

skewness of the distribution is zero
