perimeter of the rectangle is equal to perimeter of the square then

perimeter of a rectangle =2(l+b)

=2(9+7)

=2×16

=32

Then

perimeter of a square is also 32 then it side is

4×a=32

a=8cm

hence the side of the square is 8 cm
