Answer:
The four important caliphs or khalifas of the Caliphate were:
a. Abu Bakr
b. Umar I
c. Uthman
d. Ali
The Caliphate aimed at reconstruction the power of Islamic institutions and consolidation of tribes of Arab under a single name - Islam.
The twin objectives or the dual objectives of the Caliphate were;
i. To retain control over the tribes and the umma, and;
ii. And to raise resources for the state.
This was really important because, after the death of Mohammad, the tribes split and even established their own 'guilds', and other communities based on the principles of shari'a and umma.
Hope, this helps you.
