Let x be the charge for first hour and y be the charge for every subsequent hour so the equation formed will be- x + y×no. of subsequent hours = total charge

(a) =x + 14y

=20 + 14×10

=20 + 140

=160rupees

(b)20 + n×10=260(where n is the no. of subsequent hours)

10n=260-20

10n=240

n=240/10

n=24 are the no. of subsequent hours.

So, total no. of hours are 25 hours.
