SOLUTION

GIVEN

The difference of two rational numbers is 7/32.

The smaller rational number is -5/16

TO DETERMINE

The other number

EVALUATION

Here it is given that the difference of two rational numbers is 7/32.

The smaller rational number is - 5/16

Let the other number = x

So by the given condition

 \displaystyle \sf \: x -  \bigg( -  \frac{5}{16}  \bigg) =  \frac{7}{32}

 \displaystyle \sf \implies x  +  \frac{5}{16}   =  \frac{7}{32}

 \displaystyle \sf \implies x     =  \frac{7}{32}  -  \frac{5}{16}

 \displaystyle \sf \implies x     =  \frac{7 - 10}{32}

 \displaystyle \sf \implies x     = -   \frac{3}{32}

FINAL ANSWER

Hence the required number  \displaystyle \sf = -   \frac{3}{32}
