Q4a). A zeolite softener was 90% exhausted when 10,000 L of hard water was
passed through it. The softener required 200 l of NaCl solution of strength 50 g
NaCl/l of solution. What is the hardness of water.

ppm, Mg(HCO3)2 = 73 ppm, CaCl2 = 111, MgSO4 = 90 ppm, NaCL = 72 ppm
Calculate lime & Soda requirement if the amount of lime (85% pure)and soda (90
% pure) required to soften 5,00,000 L of water using FeSO7. &H2O as a Co-agulant
at the rate of 69.5 ppm.
