Q5. A floor is 3 1/4m long and 2 3/4 m wide. A square carpet of side 1 3/4 m is laid on the floor. Find the area of the floor not carpeted.

area of floor = 2/4 * 3 /4 = 1/2 * 3/4 = 3/8 m^2
area of carpet = 1/2 * 1/2 = 1/4 m^2
area that's not carpeted = 3/8- 1/4 = 12-8 / 32 = 4/32 = 1/8
the area which is not carpeted is 1/8 m^2
