in 5 hr

distance =s×t

=200×5=1000

ii) in 30 min

200km/h=200/60

d=200/60×30

=100km/min

The car travels a distance of 1000 km in 5 hours and a distance of 100 km in 30 minutes.

Given,

Speed of the sports car=200 km/h.

To find,

the distance that the car travels in (a)5 hours and (b)30 minutes.

Solution:

  • Speed is equal to the ratio of the distance covered by an object and the time taken by the object to cover that distance.
  • Speed=\frac{Distance}{Time}.
  • Its S.I. unit is m/sec.

(a)The distance that the car travels in 5 hours,

Speed=\frac{Distance}{Time}\\Distance=SpeedXTime\\Distance=200X5\\Distance=1000 km.

The sports car travels a distance of 1000 km in 5 hours.

(b)1 hour=60 minutes.

1 minute=\frac{1}{60} hours.

30 minutes=\frac{30}{60} hours.

30 minutes=\frac{1}{2} hours.

30 minutes=0.5 hours.

The distance that the car travels in 30 minutes,

Speed=\frac{Distance}{Time}\\Distance=SpeedXTime\\Distance=200X0.5\\Distance=100 km.

The sports car travels a distance of 100 km in 30 minutes.
