5x-3x=18
2x=18
x=9
so numbers are 45 and 27

let consecutive integers are x x+1 and x+2
x+x+1+x+2=51

5] Two numbers are in the ratio 5 : 3. If their difference is 18, find the numbers?

Answer :- Let the 2 numbers be 5x and 3x

Given, their difference = 18

According to the question,

5x - 3x = 18

2x = 18

x = \dfrac{18}{2}

x = 9

1st number => 5x

=> 5 × 9

=> 45

2nd number => 3x

=> 3 × 9

=> 27

6] Three consecutive integers add upto 51. What are these integers?

Answer :- Let the three integers be x, x + 1 and x + 2

Given, their sum = 51

According to the question,

x + x + 1 + x + 2 = 51

3x + 3 = 51

3x = 51 - 3

3x = 48

x = \dfrac{48}{3}

x = 16

1st number => x

=> 16

2nd number => x + 1

=> 16 + 1

=> 17

3rd number => x + 2

=> 16 + 2

=> 18

7] The sum of three consecutive multiples of 8 is 888. Find the multiples.

Answer :- Let the three consecutive multiples of 8 be x + 8, x + 16 and x + 24

Given, their sum = 888

According to the question,

x + 8 + x + 16 + x + 24 = 888

3x + 48 = 888

3x = 888 - 48

3x = 840

x = \dfrac{840}{3}

x = 280

1st integer => x + 8

=> 280 + 18

=> 288

2nd integer => x + 16

=> 280 + 16

=> 296

3rd integer => x + 24

=> 280 + 24

=> 304
