Given :- Suman accidentally cut 10.5 meter ribbon while cutting 12 meter ribbon. How much percent less ribbon did she cut ?

Solution :-

we know that,

• Percentage error = (Exact value - accidental value) * 100/ Exact value .

→ Actual length of ribbon to be cut = 12m.

but,

→ suman cuts ribbon = 10.5 m.

than,

→ Less ribbon she cuts = 12 - 10.5 = 1.5 m.

So, we get,

• Exact value = 12m.
• Accidental value = 10.5 m.
• Exact value - accidental value = 1.5m .

Therefore,

→ Less value she cuts = % error = (Exact value - accidental value) * 100/ Exact value .

→ Less value she cuts = (1.5 * 100) / 12

→ Less value she cuts = (150/12)

→ Less value she cuts = (50/4)

→ Less value she cuts = (25/2)

→ Less value she cuts = 12.5% (Ans.)

Hence, Sum cuts 12.5 less ribbon.
