Let the man's age be x

Let the sons age be y

5 years ago.

x-5 = 7(y-5)

x-5 = 7y-35

x-7y = -30-------------> 1

5 years after

x+5=3(y+5)

x+5=3y+15

x-3y=10 -----------> 2

Subtracting eq 2 from eq 1

-4y=-40

y=10

Substituting value of y in eq 2

x-30=10

x=40

Present age of man is 40 years

Present age of son is 10 years

Answer:

Explanation:

Let the age of man be x

And age of child be y

A/Q

x-5=7(y-5)

X-5=7y-35

x-7y=-30 (1)

After 5 years

X+5=3(y+5)

X+5=3y+15

X-3y=10 (1)

Using elimination method

X-3y=10

X-7y=-30

4y=40

y=10

X-3×10=10

X=40

Therefore age of man is 40yrs and age of son is 10 years
