Q6. A grocer bought sugar worth
Rs 6500
He sold one third of it at a gain of 10•/•.
At what gain percent must the remaining sugar be sold to have a gain of 14•/•on the whole?

gain%on the whole demanded=14%

So, sp of sugar with 14% profit margin=6500+(14/100*6500)

6500+(14*65)

6500+910

₹7410

1/3 of 6500=2166.6

₹2166.6

profit made on 1/3 of sugar :10%

So, selling price of sugar =2166.6+(10/100*2166.6)

=2166.6+216.6

=₹2382.6

Now, 7410-2382.6

₹5027.4

and 6500-2166.6=₹4333.4

new profit=5027.4-4333.4=₹694

new profit%=profit/cp*100

= 694/4333.4*100

=16%(approx.)
