Answer: Let us consider an object having uniform velocity u. The object undergoes uniform acceleration a such that in time t, the velocity of the object increases to v. The velocity-time graph of the body is given below:

 

Where, u = OD = AE,

            v = OC = BE,

            t = AD = OE.

We know,

              Slope BD = (increase in y axis)/(increase in x axis)

         a = (AB/AD)

         a = (BE – AE)/(AD)

         a = (v – u)/t

        at  = v – u

        v  = u + at

This is the first equation of motion which is also known as the velocity-time relation
