Q6. Shaan is 7 years younger than twice the

  • Shaan is 7 years younger than twice the  age of his brother Basu.

  • Sum of their ages is 35 years.

To Find:-

  • Age of Shaan.

Solution:-

Here, Let the age of Basu be x years.

Then, Shaan's age be 2x - 7 years.

Now, Sum of their ages is 35 years.

So, x + 2x - 7 = 35

3x - 7 = 35

3x = 35+ 7

x = \dfrac{42}{3}

x = 14

Hence, Shaan's age will be = 2x - 7

                                              = 2 \times 14 - 7

                                              = 21 years

Therefore, We got the age of Shaan as 21 years .

∴ Shaan's age = (2y-7) years.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⇒ 3y = 35+7

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⇒ y = 14 years.

Age of Basu = y = 14 years.

Age of Shaan = 2y-7 = 2(14)-7 = 21 years
