Answer:

chair cost=y,table=x

y+80=x

2x+3y=1040

2y+160+3y=1040

y=1040-160÷5

y=176,x=256

Solution :

Let the price of each table be Rs.r & let the price of each chair be Rs.m respectively;

\underbrace{\bf{1^{st}\:Case\::}}}

\longrightarrow\sf{r = m + 80 ...............(1) }

\underbrace{\bf{2^{nd}\:Case\::}}}

\longrightarrow\sf{2r + 3m = 1040}\\\\\longrightarrow\sf{2(m+80) + 3m = 1040\:\:[from(1)]}\\\\\longrightarrow\sf{2m + 160 + 3m = 1040}\\\\\longrightarrow\sf{5m + 160 = 1040}\\\\\longrightarrow\sf{5m = 1040 - 160}\\\\\longrightarrow\sf{5m = 880}\\\\\longrightarrow\sf{m =\cancel{880/5}}\\\\\longrightarrow\bf{m = Rs.176}

∴Putting the value of m in equation (1),we get;

\longrightarrow\sf{r = 176 + 80}\\\\\longrightarrow\bf{r = Rs.256}

Thus;

The cost price each table will be Rs.256 & the cost price of each chair will be Rs.176 .
