Q7 A wall is 7m long and 5.5m broad. It has one door of length 2m and breadth 1.5 m and two
windows each of length 1.5 m and breadth 1m.
a) Find the area of wall
b) Find the area of windows and door
c) Find the area of whitewashing the wall excluding window and door
d) Find the cost of white washing the wall at the rate of Rs 50 per square metre​

Answer 1

(a). Area of the wall = L×B

= 7×5.5

= 38.5m^2

(b). Area of the door = L×B

= 2×1.5

= 3m^2

Area of 2 windows = 2( L×B)

= 2×(1.5×1

= 2×1.5

= 3m^2

(c). Area of white washing,

= Area of wall - (Area of a door + Area of 2 windows)

= 38.5-(3+3)

= 38.5- 6

= 32.5m^2

(d). Cost of white washing = 32.5×50

= ₹1625
