Q7. In a test (+5) marks are given for every correct answer and (-2) marks are given for every
incorrect answer.

Roy answered all the questions and scored 30 marks though he got 10 correct
answers.
Jay also answered all the questions and scored (-12) marks though he got 4 correct
answers. How many incorrect answers had they attempted?​

Roy -

No. of correct answers = 10

Total marks must be equal to 10*5

= 50

However, marks scored = 30

Total no. of incorrect answers

= (50-30)/2

= 20/2

= 10

Total no of questions

= Roy's correct + incorrect

= 10 + 10

= 20

Jay -

Total no of questions = 20

Total correct = 4

Incorrect

= 20-4

= 16

Therefore,

Roy - 10 incorrect answers

Jay - 16 incorrect answers
