Trade Unions are bodies created by workers or employees of a particular trade that take care of their issues and ensure their welfare. They are found in most industries in the world and form the backbone of several reforms in the country.

Trade unions are characterised by a group of workers or employees of an industry who take up the responsibility of the welfare of the remaining employees. It has an elected group of members who generally chose a leader to represent them for official purposes.

Trade unions function as a group that looks into the affairs of the employed personnel of an industry and ensure that they are taken care of. It provides medical insurance, maternity and paternity leave, sick leave, paid leave etc. for the workers. It also helps them voice their demands and suggestions to the concerned authorities.

The problems faced by trade unions include low membership due to the formation of rival trade unions, political affiliation of employees and strong arm tactics employed by the company management.

Trade unions are organisations which are formed by workers or labourers participating in a common field of work.

The purpose of a trade union is to look after the interests of its members, and to listen to any grievances or complaints which the workers might have regarding the work environment, safety regulations, pay scales etc.

They act as the safeguard to the workers' rights in the workplace.
