Given:

(i) A retailers purchase price unit is of Rs 27.15 when he purchases 3 units.

(ii) the price per unit is of Rs 24 when he purchases 8 units.

To find:

(i) the % discount that the retailer gets on purchase of 8 units.

Solution:

The price of 1 unit initially = Rs 27.15

The price of 8 units initially = Rs (27.15*8) = Rs 217.20

The price of 1 unit later = Rs 24.15

The price of 8 units later = Rs (24*8) = Rs 192

Discounted price when he buys 8 units instead of 3 units = Rs (217.20-192)

=  Rs 25.20

Disc.% = [Disc/Initial Price)*100]%

= [(25.20/217.20)*100]%

= 11.6%

The retailer gets a 11.6% discount.
