Q9. A student added few pieces of aluminium metal to two test tubes A and B

containing aqueous solutions

of iron sulphate and copper sulphate. In the second part of her experiment, she added

iron metal to another test tubes C and D containing aqueous solutions of aluminium

sulphate and copper sulphate.

In which test tube or test tubes will she observe colour change ? On the basis of this

experiment, state which one is the most reactive metal and why.

Answer:

Explanation:

There will be colour change in A,B and D

In A , colour changes from pale green to colourless

In B, colour changes from blue to colourless

In D, colour changes from blue to pale green

We find that Aluminum displaces copper and iron from their salt solutions and is not displaced by other elements from its salt solution

So it is the Most reactive

Answer:

When aluminum reacts iron sulphate there would be a colour change.

When iron reacts with copper sulphate there would be a colour change.

Explanation:

This is because aluminium is more reactive than aluminium & iron is more reactive than copper, so there would be displacement reaction.
