Q9 ABC is an equilateral triangle and AD is the perpendicular from A to BC prove that AD=3BD. ​

In ΔABD, from Pythagoras theorem:

AB^{2} = BD^{2} +AD^{2} \\or \\BC^{2} = BD^{2} +AD^{2} \\\\as  \\ AB=BC=CA\\ (2BD)^{2} =BD^{2} +AD^{2} \\ 4BD^{2} =BD^{2} +AD^{2}\\ AD^{2}=4BD^{2} -BD^{2}\\\\ AD^{2}=3BD^{2}
