1. Representative fraction has no unit. It is a unitless relation. It is a fractional relationship between a unit on the map and what the same unit exactly measures on the ground.
2. The cultivated and the wooded lands are differentiated with the help of colours. Usually yellow colour represents the cultivated land and the wooded land is represented by the green colour on the map.
3. The three general types of human habitation includes
- Nucleated settlements-which means a community living on a fertile area. It is common in valleys.
- Linear settlements-they generally develops into a line. They show a gradual development.
- Scattered settlements-they are known as dispersed settlements. It means the settlements which are far away from one another.
4. According to me the main occupation of people in India is basically agriculture. India has been an agricultural country for long. Agriculture is the main occupation for more than the half of the population of India.
5. Two modes of transport with conventional signs are waterways and roadways which have been used for a long ever since the begining.
6. Slope of land means the inclination. In a graph it means the ratio between the y and x coordinate. In land it generally refers to a inclined sharp slope.
7. The types of drinage pattern with conventional signs include dendritic, trellis, rectangular and radial patterns.
8. The arangement of the contour lines indicate the steepness of the slope. The slope is steep when the lines are close and the slope is flat when the line are wider.
9. Man made feature is perennial lined well and natural feature is seasonal stream. Manmade features are the things which are altered by man and natural features include changes which are brought about by nature.
10. Scale generally means a measuring instrument. But a map scale refers to the ratio of map distance and the ground distance. It may be expressed as an equivalence or as a bar scale.
