Ossification and the different types of bone cells and their recording functions are:

  • Ossification in bone resorption is the process of laying down new bones by cells called osteoblasts.
  • It is similar to the formation of bone tissue.
  • Bone is a hard tissue that forms part of the skeletal system in many vertebrates.

Types of bone cells:

  • There are four types of cells in the bones.
  • Osteocytes, osteoclasts, osteoblasts and osteoprogenitor cells.
  • However, in different areas of the bone, these types of cells have different functions.
  • Osteoblast, found in growing parts of the bone, including the endosteum and periosteum, is responsible for making new bone.
  • Bone performs important functions in the body, such as walking, supporting and protecting soft tissues, storing calcium and phosphate, and maintaining bone marrow.
