Correct Question :-

What horse pwoeris required to lift 18.24 quitnals of coal per minute from a mine 50 m deep? ( g = 10 m² )

Answer :-

Given -

  • Mass = 18.24 quintal = 1824 kg
  • Time = 1 min = 60 sec
  • Height = 50 m

To find -

  • Power (P)

Solution :-

  • m = 1824 kg
  • t = 60 s
  • h = 50 m

Substituting the value in formula :-

\sf P =  \frac{mgh}{t}

\sf =  \frac{1824 \times 10 \times 50}{60}

\sf = 15200 W

We know,

1 Horse power = 1/746

\sf 15200 W = \frac{15200}{746}

\sf = 20.4 Hp

Therefore, the engine of 20.4 horsepower is required.
