QID : 10 - Present ages of Ankur and his sister are in the ratio of 4 : 3. After 6 years ratio of ages of Ankur’s sister and his brother will be 3 : 2. If the present age of his brother is 32 years, then after 3 years what will be the age (in years) of Ankur?

So, let’s assume the present age of Ankur be “4x” years and that of his sister be “3x” years.

The present age of Ankur’s brother is given as = 32 years

Also given that,

The ratio of the ages after 6 years of Ankur’s sister and his brother = 3:2

So, we can write the eq. as,

[3x+6]/[32+6] = 3/2

⇒ [3x+6] / 38 = 3/2

⇒ 2*[3x+6] = 3*38

⇒ 6x + 12 = 114

⇒ 6x = 102

x = 17

Therefore,

The present age of Ankur will be = 4x = 4 * 17 = 68 years

Thus,

After 3 years, Ankur’s age will be = 68+3 = 71 years
