when Zn metal is added to copper nitrate solution then the blue of copper nitrate fades due to the formation of the colour less solution of Zinc nitrate . Zn displaces the copper from copper nitrate because it is more reactive than copper. and a reddish brown layer of copper is deposited on the zinc strip
when copper metal is added to the silver nitrate solution then the white colour of the solution changes to blue due to the formation of copper nitrate. the copper metal displaces the silver metal from it's solution because copper is more reactive than silver.
