Question tags, as the name suggests, are tags with verbs that act as a question to the main sentence. This means that, they question the statement provided. The person who uses a question tag usually uses it for approval or confirmation of a fact.

⇒ Rules:

✳ A positive statement will have a negative tag.

✳ A negative statement will have a positive tag.

✳ A comma must be used to separate the statement and the tag.

⇒ How to make a question tag?

We can make a question tag for any statement by turning the verb in the statement to its opposite.

⇒ For example:

1) She can read, can't she?

Here the statement is positive and therefore the tag is negative.

2) They shouldn't run, should they?

Here, the statement is negative and therefore the tag is positive.
