and sliding friction. Which is greater? Why?​

When there is no any relative motion, the friction is known as static friction. When a body slides over another one, the friction acting there is known as sliding or kinetic friction.

Therefore, less friction. But, when the object is at rest, the surfaces interlock well, therefore friction is more.
