Step-by-step explanation:

QUESTION ASKED :

(x - 2)² + 1 = 2x - 3

TYPE OF EQUATION :

Quadratic equation

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ;

IN the equation, the highest power of the variable is 2 .so, it is called a second degree equation also. A second degree equation of one variable is called a quadratic equation.

SOLUTION OF QUESTION ;

(x - 2) ² + 1 = 2x - 3

- 4x + 4 + 1 = 2x - 3

- 4x + 5 = 2x - 3

- 4x -2x + 5 +3= 0

- 6x + 8= 0

By 1st into last method,

- 4x -2x + 8= 0

x( x - 4) - 2( x -4 ) = 0

( x - 4) ( x - 2) = 0

so,

Either,

x -4 = 0

x = 4

or,

x - 2 = 0

x = 2 answer
