x²- kx + 4 = 0

If it has equal roots => it is a perfect square
=> x² - kx + 2² = a²
=> k = 4
=> x² - 4x + 2²

 {x}^{2}  - kx + 4 = 0 \\  \\  \\ since \: it \: has \: equal \: roots

 {b}^{2}  - 4ac = 0 \\ \\   =  >  { (- k)}^{2}  - 4 \times 1 \times 4 = 0 \\  \\  =  >  {k}^{2}  - 16 = 0 \\  \\  =  >  {k}^{2}  = 16 \\  \\  =  > k \:  =  \sqrt{16 }  \\  \\   =  > k = 4\\  \\  \\  \\  \\  \\  \huge \boxed{answer = 4}
