One quality of a good leader is honesty, which is the ability of a leader to be truthful with their members at all times, even if it comes at the cost of their reputation. When their leader is more honest, their members will feel more trust within the group and this trust decreases the chance of the group falling apart. Another quality is responsibility, which is the ability of a leader to ensure the safety and welfare of the group and to ensure that things are running smoothly. A third quality is the capacity to admit whenever they are in the wrong. No human is perfect, but what truly matters is the leader to realise that whatever act they did was wrong and that their lesson has been learnt. The leader must also accept whatever reprimands they must face, no matter how strict. A fourth quality is forgiveness. A leader must realise that if the person who did a wrong doing gave an authentic apology and learnt from their actions, then it is better to move on than to continue scolding them about it. This depends, of course, if the leader sees that the person is truly sorry for their actions and depending on what it is. The last quality that is about to be mentioned is kindness. Even stern leaders have to recognise this. Whatever way the leader chooses, sternness or a more relaxed way, this should not go in the way of being benevolent, compassion and basic human decency for its members. Being kind to others helps to build a stronger bond within a group. If the leader is not being kind, i.e. overly aggressive, not only will this will negatively affect the members' self-esteem but the group as a whole, since, like dishonesty, can cause the group to separate.
