Total Quality Management (TQM) was originally used to achieve excellence in business organisations. Over time it has been adopted into various other fields, education being one of them. TQM in education aims at improving the quality of educational institutions. However, the use of TQM in schools would directly necessitate the need for TQM in teacher education. The present research article discusses the four quality imperatives of TQM in education and the need to incorporate these into Teacher Education. The article goes on emphasis the need for individual accountability which would require a stronger commitment from all the stakeholders in teacher education. The paper finally concludes with suggestions for various stakeholders. The implementation of which would take us closer to the goals of TQM in teacher education.
