Given:

(i) The data given is 1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15.

To find:

(i) The Quartile Deviation of the given data.

Solution:

The data is already arranged in ascending order.

So, number of terms(n) = 8

Q1 = (1/4)(n+1)th term

= (1/4)(9)

= 9/4th term

Q1 = 2.25th term

Q3 = (3/4)(n+1)th term

= (3/4)(9)

=27/4 th term

= 6.75th term.

2nd term is 3, and now adding to this 0.75*(5–3)

= 1.5.

So, the result is =  (3+1.5) = 4.5

6th term is 11, and now adding to this 0.25*(13–11)

= 0.5.

So, the result is =  (13+0.5) = 13.5

QD = (Q3-Q1)/2

= (13.5-4.5)/2

= 4.5

Thus, the quartile deviation is 4.5
