Quartz window is used in the photo-electric experiment to permit ultra-violet rays to fall on the tube containing electrodes which in turn are connected to the micro-ammeter to study the photo-electric effect.

hope it helps :)

Quartz window is used instead of glass window to study photoelectric effect in case of metals.

  • Glass transmits only visible light and infra-red lights but not UV light, which is required for  studying photoelectric effect.
  • Quartz window is used in the photo-electric experiment to permit ultra-violet rays to fall on the tube containing electrodes which in turn are connected to the micro-ammeter to study the photo-electric effect.
